Therapeutic Counselling
Knowledge gives you the freedom to do something.
In therapeutic counselling you will become more aware of what is causing your difficulties. You will start to see what is happening for you and why. When you see the problem in a different light you could also start to see what you can do about it.
The more aware you become the more you can look at what your options are and make decisions on what you want to do. This process makes you more empowered and puts you more in charge of your situation.
Models of Counselling
There are different models of counselling. The model used by Agnetha Blomberg McCormack is based on Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Gestalt. This approach is also based on mindfulness wellbeing.
The model uses the knowledge that all people have certain abilities to handle different situations. Sometimes these abilities are dormant and with the help of a counsellor they could become more active again. Then you will be more able to deal with what is going on in your life. This model was taught at The College of Holistic Medicine in Glasgow. The course, An Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, BACP.
