Therapeutic Counselling

Knowledge gives you the freedom to do something.

In therapeutic counselling you will become more aware of what is causing your difficulties. You will start to see what is happening for you and why. When you see the problem in a different light you could also start to see what you can do about it.

The more aware you become the more you can look at what your options are and make decisions on what you want to do. This process makes you more empowered and puts you more in charge of your situation.

Models of Counselling

There are different models of counselling. The model used by Agnetha Blomberg McCormack is based on Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Gestalt. This approach is also based on mindfulness wellbeing.

The model uses the knowledge that all people have certain abilities to handle different situations. Sometimes these abilities are dormant and with the help of a counsellor they could become more active again. Then you will be more able to deal with what is going on in your life. This model was taught at The College of Holistic Medicine in Glasgow. The course, An Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, BACP.

“I highly recommend Agnetha. Easy to talk to, professional, with an ability to get to the heart of an issue. Her skilful approach and understanding helped me to become aware where my problems were and I was able to work with them. She helped me to see the whole picture. I was a mess, my life was a mess. I was used and abused. Thanks to Agnetha, I am not a victim anymore. I am a survivor, a strong, independent and smiling woman once again. I wish I had found Agnetha years ago.”

“Counselling has turned my life around, for the better. I would recommend ABM Counselling 100%. Now I feel that I matter. I have better control of my mind. I can take a step back and evaluate a situation rather than instantly react to it.”

“Counselling helped me deal with something I had avoided a long time. It also helped me see how I could do things differently and it made me feel better with myself. I feel stronger.”

Catherine, 54, East Kilbride Date of Posting: 22 February 2013

“It has helped me immensely. Listening to what I was saying, which I did not do before, and seeing what I was doing. My grief had become so immense that I could not cope with it. Now I can certainly cope a lot better, speak about it and I feel a lot more at ease with myself. Thank you!”
